REPORTS TO:  
Branch Manager

SUMMARY:

The Barclay Group was founded in 1945 and is one of the largest independent insurance agents in South Jersey.  We represent 20+ National and Regional insurance carriers.

We are looking for a Commercial Lines Sales Representative for the Southern NJ Territory. Prior Sales experience with a proven track record required:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • 3+ years of commercial lines experience.

  • Self-motivated; team player; great communication skills (verbal & written); strong work ethic.

  • Identify, develop & maintain professional relationships with clients, prospective clients and insurance company personnel.

  • Assist in the creation of sales presentations to prospective and existing clients.

  • Actively manage a sales pipeline and a growing book of business.

  • Explain commercial lines polices to clients and answer coverage questions.

  • Evaluate insurance companies’ proposals and determine options for clients.

  • Refer prospective clients to the Benefits and Personal Lines departments and assist in servicing as necessary.

  • Review activities involving clients, companies, and other interests. 

  • Knowledge of insurance markets.

  • Knowledge of insurance rating and underwriting procedures and systems.

  • Maintain necessary licenses.

  • Attend community events and networking meetings.

  • Perform other duties as requested with regard to the operation of an independent insurance agency.

  • Proficient skill levels with Outlook, Word and Excel.  This includes being able to prepare business letters and other business correspondence using Microsoft Word.  It also includes the ability to develop an Excel spreadsheet and utilize it in performing the job functions.

Other duties may be assigned as needs arise or as required to support the essential functions. Specific performance objectives will be developed each year to measure performance.
